FCCC expands services to Central Newfoundland

FCCC is very excited to be part of the NL Canada Wide Action Plan announced in 2021.

Approval for funding was received on March 31, 2022 to expand the agency model of family child care throughout the province. Offices will be established in areas of Newfoundland and Labrador where regulated family child care is not yet available.

The funding will also be used to develop a comprehensive awareness campaign to attract family child care providers to offer regulated child care and to present it as a viable option for parents seeking quality child care. A recruiter will be working to recruit interested individuals who would like to provide regulated child care in their homes in more rural and under-serviced parts of the province.

The process of expanding to other areas of the province has started and we are very happy to announce a home visitor has been hired in the central region of the province. Applicants can avail of the support and knowledge of a home visitor who was a regulated family child care provider as well. She will be servicing the areas from Springdale to Clarenville.

Other home visitors will be hired as applications are received and a need is demonstrated. Until that time, home visitors already working with the agency will provide the support needed to applicants to meet requirements for approval.

This is a very exciting time for Family and Child Care Connections. We are anticipating much growth for the next 3 years. We are thrilled to be part of the plan to offer quality, accessible, affordable child care to all families in the province.
